Carbon and Clay Vessels

Granular Activated Carbon Treatment Systems

Carbon Clay – Water PhaseIWR builds industrial quality welded steel vessels for granular activated carbon (GAC) treatment of vapour phase or liquid phase process streams.

IWR PV Carbon Vessels.Liquid-Phase

The IWR PV granular activated carbon (GAC) media vessel is constructed with carbon steel, featuring domed top and bottom for accommodating operating pressures up to 50 psi. The interior of the vessel is epoxy coated for chemical

The IWR PV vessels are a superior option to fiberglass or plastic vessels which are prone to cracking and cannot withstand the operating pressures typical of liquid phase GAC treatment. IWR PV vessels have a much longer operating life and are much easier to service than modified pool type filtration vessels.resistance. The top lid is removable for easy access and carbon changes. Standard sizes are 90 kg, 180 kg, 450 kg and 900 kg.

IWR MS-90

The IWR MS-90 vessel is a cost effective solution for low flow GAC treatment applications. This vessel is constructed of epoxy coated mild steel and is capable of operating at pressures below 10 psi. and flow rates below 10 gpm.

OrganoclayAS-900- Air Phase Vessel

Organically modified clay that is organophilic and hydrophobic is a cost effective replacement for carbon in the treatment of water with emulsified oil. Organoclay has a much high adsorption capacity for oil, approximately 2 to 3 times that of carbon. Carbon treatment is typically required following the organoclay media treatment for effluent polishing.

IWR PV vessels are ideally suited to conversion to a clay/carbon dual media treatment system. The removable lid allows for the construction of a dual media system within one vessel. A two vessel system can also be employed.

Vapour Phase

IWR AS Vessels

Water Phase Vessel

IWR AS vapour phase GAC vessels are constructed of carbon steel with epoxy coated interior for chemical resistance. The IWR AS vessels feature a shallow bed design to minimize pressure drop across the media bed and eliminate the need for booster fans. The media bed is supported by a false bottom with a underlying condensation sump situated directly below. The sump serves as a built in moisture knock-out and storage with bottom drain for manual or automatic condensation removal. This unique design reduces the build-up of moisture in the carbon media, which will severely impair the treatment capability of the carbon. The IWR AS vessel are ideally suited for vapour phase GAC treatment of humid process streams typical of soil and groundwater remediation projects.

The IWR AS vessel also features a large top access lid for easy carbon changes.

The IWR AS-90 vessel is a cost effective solution for low flow vapour phase GAC treatment applications. This vessel is constructed of epoxy coated mild steel and is capable of operating at pressures below 10 psi.
